The standard
NRP’s core values are Dignity, Service, Excellence and Unity. This code translates them into conduct.
1. Dignity
- Treat every person with respect, regardless of province of origin, faith, gender, background, ability or political view.
- No harassment, intimidation, discrimination or abuse of any kind, at events or in NRP correspondence and channels.
- Represent Pakistan and the Pakistani-American community with the dignity you would want extended to you.
2. Service
- NRP roles are service, not status. Do not use an NRP title for personal or commercial advantage.
- Do not promise on NRP’s behalf what has not been agreed by the executive committee.
- Community services are offered free; never solicit payment for access to them.
3. Excellence
- Be accurate. Do not publish or circulate figures, names or claims that have not been verified.
- Prepare properly for any room you enter on NRP’s behalf.
- Declare conflicts of interest before they become one.
4. Unity and non-partisanship
- Do not use NRP’s name, platform or events to endorse or oppose a candidate, party or campaign in either country.
- Keep disagreements internal and civil; settle them through the executive committee.
- Do not speak to media on NRP’s behalf unless the Director of Public Relations & Media has asked you to.
5. Integrity with money and information
- Contributions and sponsorship funds are handled only through the Treasurer’s office.
- Keep members’ personal information confidential, and never use the membership roll for private purposes.
- Account for anything you hold in trust for the organization.
6. At NRP events
- Commemorative occasions are held with the solemnity they deserve.
- Follow venue rules, staff instructions and accreditation conditions.
- Photography and recording at events are subject to the organizers’ direction.
Raising a concern
Concerns about conduct are raised with the executive committee through the contact page, marked General Inquiry. Reports are handled confidentially.
Consequences
Breaches may result in a request to correct the conduct, withdrawal from a committee or event, or termination of membership or partnership. Decisions rest with the executive committee.
